Directorate Resettlement Zone (East) was initially raised in 1966 at Kolkata as Corporate Liaison Office. In 1973, it was renamed as Directorate of Resettlement Eastern Zone. Subsequently in May 1999, the establishment was re-designated as Directorate Resettlement Zone (East).

DRZ (East) undertakes all task assigned by Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), New Delhi towards Re-settlement and Welfare of ESM of the North East Region and to provide an opportunity for a second career to ESM and retiring Armed Forces Personnel.

Act as a link between DGR and the environment and provide feedback on DGR schemes and Policies in the AOR.

Administration of Sponsorship of Security Agencies of the States to include West Bengal, Orissa , Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur,Mizoram,Nagaland,Tripura &Sikkim

Conduct ESM Employment Seminars in conjunction with CII and Conduct ESM Awareness / Rallies at various locations.

Carry out surprise visit to PSUs and Security Agencies where security guards are sponsored by DGR and check their functioning on ground as per DGR norms.

Keep regular liaison with RSBs & ZSBs in the States in our AOR.
